Hey all,

Well there was a bit of interest but not lots so unfortunately we won’t be able to put in a team this year. The plan though is to sort out a team for next year so will be taking down details at freshers fair in sept. In the meantime there are a couple fo yachts that I sail on in Wales and Liverpool and they usually need crew so if you’re interested in having a sail and a practice then email me with your details, includes current team racing team members, so if we’re short I can let you know.

Until then come down to the sailing socials and meet the rest of the team and we’ll get up and running for next year.

Hi All,

Hope everyone is feeling good and enjoying the last couple of weeks of uni before proper christmas festivities begin!

I’m emailing y’all to see if there is any interest in putting in a team for the BUCS Ychting Nationals which is held in easter 2010 (don’t worry doesn’t clash with BUSA Team racing). Because it is going to cost a lot of money I’d like to apply to the AU for the money so I need to approach them with a proposal including a team with some decent experience that could potentially do alright. If we manage to do this then it’ll provide a basis for starting a yacht section of the sailing club for next year, which will help expand and promote the club.

So for the time being if you are interested then please email me directly misspennyj@hotmail.com and give me a brief description of your yacht/racing experience. The team consists of 9 people, 2 of whicch must be girls, so places are limited. If everyone could send me their info before January then I will have an idea as to whether this plan can go ahead.

hey dudes and dudettes just wanted to get the ball rolling for this coming year…hope everyone is having a great summer and keeping well.

i believe freshers week starts monday 22nd sept?so sports fair is the tues and wed 23-24th!prob easier to say if anyone is not in manchester can they let me know!?here are my thoughts….

kathryn:if your in the country prob best we have a phone call (while i remember:dates for trials, organising minibus, bigM)
rosie: can u let me know ideas and dates about the first social?pub golf?
shlam: let me know wen your back and we can go and check funds…still waitin to hear about budgets and fireflies
pennyand alex:any ideas about a sixth lark?could be useful.also perhaps plan an afternoon to check old ones
tom: dates for bigM?have we put in a proposal to busa?need to really start planning so teams can get it into their calender.think durham have already set a date.

Hey-ho!

Hope you have all had a good weekend! You will be pleased to hear Penny, Jack, Sam and i made it across the irish sea… So i’m afraid your dreams of me not bugging u anymore have not come true!

Firstly a thank you for the meeting and night out the other night… was fucking awesome! We covered lots in the meeting the other day so thought i’d give u a quick re-cap. Also a copy of the new firefly proposal… PLEASE READ! and SAVE, THINK ABOUT and ANSWER QUESTIONS!! thank u!

Last Meeting’s notes:
Kylie and Slaminator - pay umpires - claim money back, bank check, preparing budget to be handed in very soon, check BUSA accomodation is paid for..
Penny - Keep fighting that insurance.
Norman - Complete snag list (saw the keys had gone, hope it didn’t rain too much).
Sam Ed + Jonny - Bollocks jonny for missing meeting and inform him that he has a punishment for it! and more importantly GET SPONSORSHIP! lol :p and jackets.
Rosie - Set a date for the Big Bash, hand in BUSA write up to student direct.
TomKey - Get date on website for Big M, talk to jim about BUSA (i will send email to ali haylett for a copy of their proposal they sent this year).
Will - Make sure everything is safe.
EVERYONE - Be thinking/planning team trials because it will come round very quickly, we all need to be in manchester for it and ready! also NEW FIRELY proposal.. i want it in before the summer!

Welcome back guys! Hope you haave had a great easter, and eaten lots of ballast (a.k.a Rik Waller’s weight in chocolate) Well done! Shame about BUSA guys for all of you who weren’t there, there was no wind so we spent most of out time bobbing. Entertaining for most, except Will and Rob who had immense hangovers! lol. But if there was a league for socialising we would have won it! So congratulations Manchester!

Thanks for all your hard work this weekend, if the wind had been different the event would have been perfect, but shit happens, everyone i spoke to says they some awsome nights out so happy days…. Penny should consider “Project managing” as a career.

Reminders… AGM 7pm at Firs pavillion, thats the cricket building at the armitage… please everyone make a big effort to turn up as you will be selecting next years committee!!!
